Profile of Enexis
*Enexis is an electricity and gas grid operator, responsible for the construction, maintenance, management and development of the energy transport and distribution networks in Northern, Eastern and Southern parts of the Netherlands. We provide the safe delivery of gas and electricity to approximately 2.6 million households, businesses and governmental bodies. Customers are free to choose their preferred energy supplier. The area covered by Enexis includes the provinces of Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Flevoland, Overijssel, Limburg and Noord-Brabant.
*Energy is an important basic facility
The supply of energy is an important basic facility in a modern society. Consumers and businesses assume that energy will always be available in sufficient quantity. This is not a question for them, it is taken for granted. At Enexis, we recognise the social and economic importance of energy supply and have included this as a principle when establishing our vision, mission and core values.

*Social importance
In order to focus its strategy, Enexis uses a stakeholder model with four stakeholdergroups. We have marked society as the fourth stakeholder in addition to customers, shareholders and employees. Social importance takes the highest priority, followed by customers, employees and shareholders.
In setting its internal policy, Enexis uses a policy triangle. This is based on the policy traingle of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (EA) and contains the elements affordable, reliable, sustainable and public-oriented. In addition to the three general aspects from the EA policy triangle, we emphasise the importance of good quality service to our customers and other market participants. We have developed our own way of working method that is based on our core values: together, decisive, responsible and future-oriented. The managers and employees of Enexis have an important part to play here.

*Core activities
To maintain its full focus on affordability, reliability and sustainability, Enexis chooses to focus especially on its regulated* core activities and core-strengthening commercial activities. Non-core-strengthening commercial activities are given a lower priority, with an active focus on the potential for bolstering non-core-strengthening activities through mergers and simultaneously reducing Enexis’ involvement therein.
* The core activities are regulated by means of a framework of legislation and regulation, principally the Independent Grid Management Act (Wet Onafhankelijk Netbeheer or “WON”).

*Vision
Society is becoming increasingly aware of its dependence on energy and the consequences of energy use for the economy, living standards and the climate. Our stakeholders and customers are therefore becoming increasingly critical with regard to the performance and conduct of energy (distribution) partners and their ability to respond effectively to technological developments and changing market conditions.
